Focus

CFP’s Osoyoos packing facility receives fruit (including cherries, stone fruit, pears, and apples) in bulk from Okanagan-based growers and sorts it for quality and size before packaging it for shipment to our domestic and international customers. Ensuring building and equipment maintenance is performed in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner is an important part of our operations.

Key Accountabilities:

• Minimize equipment downtime through preventative, scheduled, and unscheduled maintenance/repair of equipment, including various types of conveyors, materials handling, hydraulic, pneumatic, water, power, and electrical systems
• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain all machinery in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety standards and practices
• Perform minor repairs and routine maintenance tasks
• Perform regular maintenance inspections of equipment and facility and maintain associated checklists
• Report and follow up on any maintenance and/or safety issues, including regular testing of facility safety systems
• Maintain clean and orderly work areas, including cleaning areas after repairs have been made or materials have been removed
• Maintain inventory of equipment, tools, manuals, and warranties
• Maintain a healthy and safe work environment by:

- collaborating with all employees and other professionals during facility renovations/expansions

- participating as a member of the Health and Safety Committee

- ensuring compliance with all Health and Safety policies

• Completion of other responsibilities as assigned

Education and Experience

• Experience working with production line equipment
• Strong mechanical knowledge
• Ability to perform small repairs
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety regulations
• _ Forklift certification is an asset_
• _ Experience in millwright and industrial maintenance is an asset_
• Building trades' certificate(s), or equivalent, is an asset
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards is an asset
• First Aid training is an asset
• Previous agriculture and/or packing facility experience is an asset

Working Conditions

Work is conducted indoors and outdoors at a fruit packing plant environment and can be subject to extreme temperature conditions. Plant operating hours are dependent on crop, production, and shipping needs, with extended hours and seven-day-a-week operations common during harvest months (i.e. June through October). This position is required to be at the plant a minimum of 30 minutes prior to line start-up on production days. This position involves evening and/or weekend work, due in part to the timing of certain maintenance activities relative to plant operating hours.

• Regularly working with machinery such as loaders, forklifts, hand tools, power tools, and cleaning tools
